From your Noblesville Family Photographer
Some days, you just need to get out of the house.
But you’ve done the usual “trip to the park” a hundred times.
If the idea of planning something bigger feels exhausting and you just need something easy, I have good news!
Noblesville has plenty of quick, no-stress outings that don’t require reservations or a detailed itinerary!
As a Noblesville family photographer, here are some of the best family-friendly outings I’ve found in your area that you can do with zero planning.
Library Storytime or Activity Hours
Your local library is a goldmine for last-minute fun, and most of their events are totally free!
Check your city or county library website for storytime schedules, toddler playgroups, or even hands-on STEM activities. Many libraries also have seasonal events that don’t require reservations.
We have been going to the library weekly for years and years. Depending on which library you go to, there are exploration or maker labs, imaginative play for littles, reading challenges with prizes, concerts, book sales, and so much more. Utilize this space as a free entertainment and enrichment option. It will become a family favorite tradition for sure.
Self-Guided Art Walks or Mural Hunts
Every city has hidden art gems—you just have to know where to look!
Research well-known murals, public sculptures, or even quirky statues in your area.
City tourism websites, Google Maps, or hashtags on Instagram (like #YourCityMurals) are great places to start. If you find enough, turn this into a mini scavenger hunt for families!
We haven’t done a ton of this type of fun, but we do love so many of our local murals. Like this one in Downtown Noblesville, which is a favorite of mine for family walks and Noblesville family sessions.
Outdoor Picnic & Play
This is the easiest, zero-prep outing ever. Just grab a blanket, pack some snacks (or grab takeout on the way), and head to a nearby park.
Some of our favorites are Cool Creek Park. Here there is a little of everything. You have a huge play structure, hiking paths, creek stomping, a nature center with live animals, a natural play area (our favorite spot), and so many activities to attend.
We also love MacGregor Park. This park has a small walking path with a story walk and so many wildflowers. There are also longer hiking paths that are nicely marked. As you hike, you will see some overlook areas, a creek, a meadow, and some benches to rest on along the way.
Another favorite of our family is Flowing Well Park. Especially if you have littles, this is a great place to go. The bathrooms are new and close to the parking lot, and the creek is just a short walk away, and most of it is paved. The water is shallow, and there are rocks for throwing to your heart’s content.
All three of these locations are some of my favorites to use when you book a Noblesville family session.
Indoor Play Areas
Indoor play places save the day when the weather isn’t cooperating.
Many trampoline parks, gymnastics centers, or kids’ play cafés offer open-play hours where families can just show up.
Here are a few that I found when searching online. We haven’t been to an indoor play area in a long time now that we have bigger kids, but we loved The Park at Traders Point and Cornerstone Lutheran Church play area. These are all free!

Last-Minute Free Community Events
Check city websites, Facebook events, and local parenting groups for free, last-minute activities like concerts in the park, outdoor movies, or pop-up festivals.
You can even sign up for city event newsletters to stay ahead of what’s happening. This is one of the best lists I’ve seen recently. She has events listed all around Carmel, Noblesville, Fishers, and Westfield. Also check out your city’s website. Here is one for Noblesville.
We love to go to the farmers market; they usually have free entertainment, and you can’t beat local yummy food. We also enjoy free concerts in the park and events like Porch Fest. The ones we do the most are the library, picnics, and hikes.
Sometimes the best outings aren’t the ones you spend a lot of time planning—they’re the ones you actually do! Choose one from the list and make it happen.
