Advice for New Moms from a Noblesville Newborn Photographer

What I wish I had done with each of my babies

Things do not need to be perfect for you to take newborn photos.

When I had my four kids, in-home newborn sessions either weren’t a thing or I just didn’t know about them. Now that I get to be part of such a huge milestone for other families, I’m honestly obsessed… and I wish I had these memories from when my babies were brand new.

As a Noblesville photographer and mom myself, I get it. You’re exhausted. You’re healing. You don’t feel like yourself yet, and you might not even know what day it is.

Your house? It probably looks like a tornado came through carrying burp cloths, onesies, blankets, wipes, water bottles, and those tiny baby essentials, like the smallest nail clippers ever and a nose sucker.

And the last thing on your mind is
“Let’s take photos right now… at home.”

But that’s exactly why you plan ahead.

Book your session during pregnancy. Trust me on this. Wear something soft and forgiving—a flowy dress or even your maternity jeans with a cozy cardigan. This is the wardrobe inspiration I send to all my newborn mamas.

And the rest? I’ve got you.

We move things out of the frame. I’ve rearranged entire rooms with Dad’s help. If the light is better outside, we’ll step out there.

All we truly need is:
You + your sweet new baby + the people you love + a window.

That’s where the magic happens.

Are you expecting, or do you have a new baby? Here is all the info you need to capture your sweet little one. This Noblesville newborn photographer is here to tell your story.
