There are many reasons why I love a newborn lifestyle session. They are one of my absolute favorite things to capture because, even though it doesn’t feel like it at the time, the very new newborn season is so short. I know you are recovering from birth, learning how to care for this new little babe, and probably not getting much sleep, but it won’t last for long. That first year holds so many changes, and they just keep coming. You will be so thankful that you made the effort to capture this moment of adding a new member to your family.

When you book a newborn lifestyle session in your home, it will be so personal to your family. I love that about these sessions. We will pick a space in your home to capture the newness, love, and connection you have with your baby. If you’re worried your house isn’t the right space, clean enough, or whatever, don’t. We only need a small space and a window. I will move everything we don’t want in the picture out of the frame. There have been a time or two that have moved a little bit of furniture. We put everything back together when we’re done. The little addition of having your space in the pictures makes all the difference. I drove to you for your newborn session.

Getting out and about might not be the easiest thing to accomplish shortly after giving birth and bringing home a new baby. When you book a newborn session, I drive to you and help you with all the details. Before the session, we had already discussed clothing, and I will style your whole family. While I am shooting at your home, we keep things as easy as possible for Mama. We move at your pace and follow the lead of the baby for feedings and all the other things. As a mama to four, I have a deep understanding of those first few weeks home and how exhausting they can be. My goal is to make it a very enjoyable experience for everyone and capture this precious moment in time. Your photographer spoils you!

This one might be mostly for me. I mean, I do love snuggling all these babies at a newborn lifestyle session, but I definitely love to spoil and encourage all the mamas too. It’s one of the big perks of capturing families during pregnancy—newborns, growing kids, and high school seniors. Each stage holds a new way I am able to encourage and lift up families, especially mamas. Telling your story will always be my absolute favorite! Snuggling the babies is just a huge bonus for me.
